US Cadet Nurse Corps veteran, Mary Dewar will be on campus for a moderated conversation about her book, 鈥淏ehind the Red Curtain: Mary Reed Dewar in her own words鈥�.

Dewar鈥攚ho in 1970 also joined the faculty of the then-School of Nursing at Adelphi to teach community health nursing鈥攕aid she became a cadet nurse in 1946, by which time World War II was over. While she didn鈥檛 go overseas to serve the war effort, she did travel the world to serve in other ways鈥攆irst in China in the 鈥�40s and in Angola in the 鈥�50s, then in Northern Rhodesia and Ghana in the 鈥�60s and Switzerland in 1968.
