Reaching alumni around the nation, the Momentum 2 Presidential Reception Tour is an opportunity to share our news with friends and supporters as we prepare to launch our fundraising campaign, the Momentum Campaign: Extraordinary Impact. At each stop across the country, our alumni will be sharing stories of the extraordinary impact of their Adelphi education.

Hanna Kim, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology, has returned from a year away, studying and educating others about the Hindu community and religious group she has been researching for decades. Now she鈥檚 ready to complete a book on her work鈥攁nd fuel her students鈥� passion for scholarship.

A degree in philosophy gave these alumni the skills to be thought leaders in a variety of careers ranging from humanitarian work to justice protection to elder law.

On April 5 and 6, 每日大赛 will welcome fellow book lovers for a free celebration of storytelling, literature and the power of the written word鈥攆eaturing Adelphi alumna and bestselling author Alice Hoffman 鈥�73, 鈥�02 (Hon.), who founded and inspired the two-day festival.

In the realm of higher education, 每日大赛 has long been recognized for cultivating academic excellence. Despite being a field where women are uncommon, the Physics Department at Adelphi boasts two remarkable sisters among its alumni; Bridget and Katie Gifford.

For the first time since the pandemic, high school students gathered at Adelphi to learn how to advocate for their rights and those of people of all races, cultures, religions and genders.聽

At the 每日大赛 Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, the postgraduate programs in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy have made history by surviving鈥攁nd thriving鈥攆or 60 years. Learn how the programs have evolved through the decades of psychoanalytic thought, from Sigmund Freud to today鈥檚 new approaches.

Master of Science in Business Analytics students put their skills into practice by teaming up with tech enterprise Netrality Data Centers.

Melina Giakoumis '11, PhD, a conservation biologist, science communicator and mother who advocates for women in STEM, is building an app for citizen scientists to help track鈥攁nd protect鈥攄eclining Asterias sea stars.

In addition to continuing to serve as associate provost for faculty support and global affairs, in 2024, she will lead Levermore Global Scholars, a program that initially drew her to Adelphi because of its unique learning goals.

The Adelphi graduate has reached new heights with his motivational book.

Chad Williams, MSW 鈥�23, a Queens, New York, native and dedicated social work PhD student, works for the New York City Administration for Children鈥檚 Services while completing his doctorate. He recently authored a children鈥檚 book with his daughter that encourages young girls to feel empowered and confident. Williams鈥� goal: to continue to find ways to tie social work to the arts.

Adelphi Alumni Relations is getting ready to hit the road to host events and reconnect with alumni, parents and friends. With the support of President Riordan, we will host Presidential Receptions in cities around the country.

Emphasizing the importance of corporate social responsibility is part of the mission of the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. A panel of experts from the business and nonprofit worlds came to campus to share their insights with students.

When Wendy Goidel, JD, saw her clients needed more than legal expertise, she created a unique program that helps older adults and their families while providing valuable experience in gerontological social work to graduate students.

鈥淵es, that鈥檚 my mother鈥檚 ring,鈥� joyfully exclaimed Margaret Love Boehning when she heard that someone 1,000 miles away from her home in North Carolina had found the cherished family heirloom. Thanks to the efforts of 每日大赛 and the woman in Maine who found the Adelphi class ring, it found its way back to the Boehning family.

In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Bridges to Adelphi program and the 每日大赛 Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging co-hosted an event focusing on self-advocacy for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Caroline Elkins, PhD, Harvard professor and author, presented on the untold history of colonialism in Kenya.

For Maureen Gannon MS 鈥�88, PhD, 每日大赛 was both a logical and life-altering stop on her path to earning her doctorate in cell biology and anatomy.

Meet two students in Adelphi鈥檚 highly selective鈥攂ut life-changing鈥擡arly Assurance Program. One was able to start dentistry school at just 20 years old, while the other will already be a medical resident at 24鈥攆our years earlier than average.
