With a new emphasis on student outcomes in its 2025 list of America's Best Colleges, The Wall Street Journal now ranks Adelphi as the top university on Long Island. Numerous initiatives promoting career readiness have propelled Adelphi's rise.

Many dance majors go on to perform, but others have used their Bachelor of Fine Arts to create their own companies or schools or go into health professions such as聽 physical therapy.聽

Students in theater, political science, computer science and biochemistry expanded their horizons by working in a Broadway theater or a public relations defense firm, competing in a NASA competition, or collaborating on research at a university in Poland.

Faculty members from the theater and English departments will each lead a trip to the United Kingdom: one for English literature in York and the other for theater in London.聽

Internships are a foundation of an Adelphi education and one of the best ways students can prepare for careers. From shadowing surgical technicians at an eye bank to researching nanotechnology in Poland, our students spent the summer of 2024 having extraordinary internship experiences.

At Adelphi, research is highly valued for undergrads as well as graduate students. This summer, six undergraduates are making new discoveries鈥攊nside and out of the lab.

Miguel Velasquez 鈥�23, MA 鈥�24, a bilingual history major who was Adelphi鈥檚 2021 Newman Civic Fellowship winner, has already secured a teaching position鈥攊n the same school where he held his Adelphi internship.

Kyana Gordon 鈥�24 was turned away from doing research at her high school. Now, after two years in Adelphi biology labs, she's off to conduct epidemiological research in Jamaica as a Fulbright Scholar. Meet her and three other winners of prestigious national academic awards.

The Career Closet is a new initiative at Adelphi created for our community to assist students in starting their professional wardrobe.

Undergrad Nino Burjanadze, a Levermore Global Scholar, has been selected for a semester-long internship with The Washington Center Academic Internship Program in Washington, D.C. She will advocate for better resources for schools located in areas with funding challenges, like Native American reservations and low-income housing communities.

Hanna Kim, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology, has returned from a year away, studying and educating others about the Hindu community and religious group she has been researching for decades.
